UD Past Time Pennants Countdown: Is that a High School Field, Whitey?

It's November 21 which means by the end of this post we will have gotten through the bottom 63 cards in the 2005 Upper Deck Past Time Pennants set.  Considering the fact that the set contains 90 cards, it's clear that we are now moving into the upper echelon of great looking cards.  Who will end up falling a bit shy of the Top 20?  Let's find out!

#30:  Tom Seaver

This is a terrific card of Tom Terrific (sorry, had to)!  The blue of the sky, the blue of the jersey (rain jacket?), and the green of the grass make for a pleasing collection of colors!  I think Tom could have creeped a bit higher in the countdown had he bothered to get a hair cut before photo day.  Also, what's with the rain jacket under the uniform?  It looks pretty darn sunny there.

#29:  Rick Ferrell

Ferrell was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984.  I don't think I would have come up with his name in twenty years of trying to guess all the people in the Hall.  That's forgivable though since he played back in the 1930s...  As for the card, it's a wondrous display of what baseball used to be.  Unkempt, unrefined, and joyous.

#28:  Whitey Ford

Ford also played before my time but I think I'd be able to come up with his name without all that much difficulty.  What made this card land in the #28 slot was the photo.  What's going on here?  Is Ford pitching for real (there are fans watching after all)?  Is this posed (it sure looks posed)?  How did the photographer get that shot if it were a live game?  Why would there be so many people there if it weren't a live game?  And finally, was this shot on a high school baseball field?
